Gitikunja the name itself sounds the nest of songs.

The institute was established in the year 2003. The institute was inaugurated on 15^th September, 2003 the august presence of notable songstress Smti Swastika Mukhopadhay, Professor Sangeet Bhavan Vishvabharati, Ex. MLA Mr. Tapan Hore, Mr. Krishnapada Singha Roy, Ex Councillor Bolpur Municipality.

Initially the numbers of students were a few but as the years rolled by its number started increasing & the present enrolment is 50 to 60.
The school is affiliated to BENGAL MUSIC COLLEGE. The school conduct examinations each year under the guide lines of BENGAL MUSIC COLLEGE. The successful candidates are provided with certificate of course depending upon the results of the examinations for both practical & theoretical. Member of Music College witnesses the exam process as invigilator so that the examination is held in a manner strictly to the guidelines of BENGAL MUSIC COLLEGE.
Gitikunja trained its students in such a manner so that there is not an iota of departure in the strict guidelines of Rabindra Sangeet & Music.
The school performed song, dance, drama based on Tagore’s creation of various occasion both at Bolpur and other places in West Bengal as and when occasion so demands.
The teacher of the school do also performed the job of judge on merit efficiency in a competitive function as and when requested for. The school is administered by a committee headed by Smti. Nivedita Bhattacharjee with the help of other committee members.
The school do also performs cultural function based on Tagore’s songs & dramas even at free of cost with its own troops.
The contribution of this school is not only rested with its own performance but also extends service to the poor student at free of cost and provided them with books and musical instruments on demand.
Dance accompanied by Rabindra Sangeet is a music genre started by RABINDRANATH TAGORE. The school strictly follows the guidelines of songs or dance dramas set on by the poet RABINDRANATH TAGORE.
Besides Tagore’s songs Dwijendrageeti, Atulprasadi and songs of Rajanikanta are also in practice with same enthusiasm. The Tagore creation is auspiciously celebrated all over India during each and every moment whether sad or happy. This school was once sprout of a seed is now stands to a great banyan tree spreading with its branches & leaves.
Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore is a universal citizen. A century & a half after Tagore`s birth he remains fresh in our minds gently guiding us through the everyday trails & tribulation of life
